Hi! I'm Teresa. After working in the fitness industry full-time for 10 years, I really started to recognize just how interconnected the mind and body are, which led me to pursuing a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. As I continued to work each area independently, I started to realize that for some, greater effectiveness might happen through integration of both mind and body work, which led me to founding Harris Counseling Group.
Although I work with individuals experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and eating-related disorders, I specialize in working with those interested in better understanding themselves. Through years of working with individuals struggling with gender, sexual, professional, racial/ethnic, and religious identities, I've recognized just how critical truly knowing oneself is the foundation to living a more full life. I am body- and sex- positive, and specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ community.
Currently licensed to practice counseling with clients located in: DC, MD, SC, FL, and TX. Virtual personal training services also available.
Also available to provide secondary individual / group supervision for LGPC's working toward their LPC - reach out for rates!
Many individuals can experience difficulty understanding themselves when experiencing different life stages and events, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community.
Dedicating time to gain greater understanding of one's identity can lead to increased self-acceptance and self-love.
Working with queer folks seeking to understand their true identity and find comfort and confidence in their own skin is a part of my work that I absolutely love.
Whether it be a diagnosed eating disorder or not, struggling with one's body image and relationship with food can become all-consuming, preventing one from truly living a full life and loving themselves.
Learning to commit to a more self-compassionate life is a critical component in regaining self-love.
Together we can create strategies to build confidence, love what you and your body are capable of, and find peace in being kind to yourself.
