Whitney is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor providing telehealth therapy in Washington, D.C. She holds a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Temple University, as well as an M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University, and a B.A. in International Studies and Philosophy from Spelman College. She is currently a doctoral student in Counseling Psychology at Howard University.
She is Bahamian-American and was born and raised in Maryland. She has a passion for working with individuals from historically marginalized communities, especially LGBTQIA+ individuals and immigrant communities. She has prior experience in the federal government and non-profit refugee resettlement.
Whitney’s approach to therapy is based on Relational-Cultural Theory and integrates other techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Whitney works with clients to co-create a culturally inclusive and nonjudgmental space that fosters the exploration of individuals’ strengths, challenges, relationships, and identities.
